The Team Leader B1 is an EASA-Part 66 licensed B1 with relevant aircraft types expected to support in Malta and easyJet network as required. The incumbent would normally be tasked as a Team Leader within the related shift.
The Team Leader B1 leads and directs all personnel assigned to their team to perform all and any maintenance work including various aircraft repairs and replacements, to ensure airworthiness according to company and customer specifications and standards.
The position holder is expected to perform all the technical duties in line with company authorization issued by the Compliance Monitoring Department.
Main tasks
- To promote a positive safety culture and to ensure that the safety and quality policy is communicated, promoted and implemented within the organization.
- Ensure that all elements of the SMS are properly implemented, maintained and continuously improved by fulfilling all SMS related duties and responsibilities as defined in SMS manual.
- Ensure all safety and quality standards are being adhered (including his team).
- Ensure hygiene and environmental protection according to procedures.
- Manage and keep housekeeping standards in assigned area/sections, ensuring that team members comply to 6S standards as per Company procedures.
- Ensure all tasks are being performed and recorded with the correct revision. Ensure Job Cards, workorders update as per company, customer’s requirements.
- Ensure full adherence to maintenance contracts, company, and customer procedures to high quality standards.
- Act as Mentor as required.
- Ensure proper identification of work scope of all assigned work and ensures that all necessary technical data is available.
- Provide on the job instruction and training regarding aircraft work, standard operating procedures and safety standards to employees in the team.
- Ensure prioritization of task which have the possibility of high risk of heavy findings.
- Ensure the on-time performance of maintenance checks.
- Lead, coach and direct the assigned team in performing maintenance task and ensure that aircraft is operating in airworthiness conditions.
- Has full accountability for assigned section(s) / area(s).
- Prepare and report job status during handover at the end of shift.
- Supervise/monitor on time stamping and clocking on the jobcards accordingly.
- Assign work to his or her team to ensure that OSHE, Quality, Productivity, Efficiency, and Timeliness and consistently monitors performance of the work are being followed.
- Plan and develop work schedules and equipment usage schedules.
- Review non-routine cards to identify repairs and/or replacements in a timely manner.
- Accurately identify necessary parts, materials, and tooling for each non-routine job and estimates maintenance on non-routine card in a timely manner.
- Monitor, control the flow and completion as necessary of work documents in area of responsibility.
- Adopt a proactive approach to continuous improvement and compliance with continuous improvement standards.
- Improve one’s own work environment to ensure optimal delivery and performance.
- Liaise with External Liaison Specialists for accurate reporting and prioritization of reporting on relevant layover in a timely manner.
- Accurately identify necessary parts, materials, and tooling for each non routine job and estimates maintenance on non-routine card in a timely manner.
- Supervise/monitor time stamping (clocking on job cards).
- Ensure that on daily basis the parts ordered are being followed up.
- Ensure that material bookings are correctly done on the right job cards to facilitate cost monitoring.
- Assists the Shift Leader, Bay Manager as required and follow up on the project daily milestones.
- Ensure clear communication and reporting.
- Engage one’s team in the generation and implementation of continuous improvement ideas.
- Engage in the supervision of training and development of apprentices and subordinates.
- Increase the engagement and motivation of staff members in one’s team.

Position Key Accountabilities
- Safety: Prevent inadvertent or hazardous operation leading to injury or loss.
- Quality: Prioritise standards and process, no deviation. Support in reviewing customer request for historic repair files discrepancies.
- Delivery: On time delivery within the set targets and levels, KPI’s, CI. Attend Operations Meetings to provide relevant section update and highlight any issues that can possibly cause disruption to the operation. Lease with sub-contractor to support in providing services required in relevant section. Upload and update operator ERP system as required.
- Cost / Customer: Entrepreneurial thinking and acting, customer minded. Raise Purchase Requestions for sub-contractors for Purchase Order generation.
- People: Learn, teach, coach, ethical and cultural openness. Perform daily consecutive shift work plan including manpower requirement. Support training department / Production Trainers. Deputies the role of Shift Leader.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience Education
Required:
- Holder of a Valid B1 and/or B2 EASA Part-66 Licence issued from an EU Member State.
- Holder and endorsed of a valid A320 Family Type Rating (for all engine types endorsed on AML)
- Must still be valid and signed
- Possess a minimum of 5 years of experience in aviation industry.
- LOGBOOK that is signed by previous employer (6months in last 2years must count up to 180 different days)
- Previous work experience
- Recency letter to support OJT from Quality department
- Previous P-145 MRO authorization (if applicable)

- Initial and Refreshers HF - Human Factors
- Initial and Refreshers SMS - Safety
- Initial and Refreshers FTS - Fuel Tank Safety
- initial and Refreshers EWIS - Electrical wiring
Skills
- Be fluent in the interpretation of aircraft manuals include the SRM and be able to follow modifications and/or SBs, and aircraft structural repair drawings.
- Possess sound leadership skills.
- Be able to multi-task, organize and work under pressure.
- Be computer literate with strong knowledge of MS office applications.
- Sound knowledge of AMOS and SAP.
- Positive attitude and solutions orientated.
- High degree of customer focus, both internal and external.
- Good command of verbal and written English, Level B2.
