The Assistant Facility Technician is responsible for assisting in the execution of the preventive maintenance (PM) plan in relation to the facilities equipment and infrastructure. The Assistant Facility Technician must assist in performing the related PM tasks such as inspections, repair and modifications to ensure the efficient running of the facilities infrastructure. The Assistant Facility Technician must also ensure that a high standard of efficiency, quality, housekeeping and health safety are always maintained.
Main Tasks
• To promote a positive Safety Culture and to ensure that Safety and Quality Policy is communicated/promoted and implemented within the Organization.
• To monitor and ensure efficient running of the facilities plant and equipment.
• To record and log machine running hours and energy consumption readings.
• To perform and ensure that the PM for the facilities plant and equipment is carried out.
• To repair equipment related to the facilities main plant.
• To repair any faulty installations within the facility.
• To carry out minor modifications on installations within the facility.
• To supervise and liaise with 3rd party Subcontractors.
• To maintain a safe, organised and clean work environment according to the company’s established 5S principles, including proper usage of tooling.
• Any other duties that may be assigned from time to time.

• To ensure that the downtime of the facility equipment is within the defined KPI’s.
• To ensure all records related to facility equipment are completed and handed over to the Facility Manager.
• To ensure compliance with procedures and local legislations.
• To ensure quality is to the approved standards.

Good troubleshooting and creative problem-solving abilities, good interpersonal skills
Previous experience in facilities, maintenance, or custodial work preferred
Basic understanding of building systems (electrical, plumbing, HVAC
Good communication and organisational skills
Team Player
Able to multitask and work under pressure
Computer literate with adequate knowledge of MS office applications
Able to lift 20kg and stand or walk for extended periods
Technical qualification MQF 3 or 4
