Job Description

Overview

The Bay Manager is overall responsible and accountable for the assigned bay, assigned project. He / She is responsible for the optimal preparation, execution, and the completion of Base & Heavy Maintenance projects at easyJet Engineering Malta. He / She is responsible and accountable for overall coordination of the planning phase through to delivery to invoicing. The Bay Manager is directly reporting to the Production Manager.

The Bay Manager is requested to have an insight into both ongoing and upcoming checks assigned to his bay and coordinate preparation accordingly, the coordination should include but not limited to the request of additional FTE’s if need and any specialized tooling.

During ongoing ground time, the bay manager has responsibility to efficiently coordinate all project team for the targeted outcome as per SQDCP methodology. It is the responsibility of the bay manager to lease with customers and ensure the daily updates are provided through customer meetings and ground time status report.

Bay manger is requested to ensure the up keeping of the bay under his supervision and request support of other departments as required.

The Bay manager has the responsibility to develop personnel under his responsibility and lease with training department for the optimum carrier path of his subordinates.

 

Main Tasks  

  • To promote a positive Safety Culture and to ensure that Safety and Quality Policy is communicated / promoted and implemented within the Organization. 
  • To ensure that all elements of the SMS are properly implemented, maintained, and continuously improved by fulfilling all SMS related duties and responsibilities as defined in SMS Manual. 
  • Prepare and publish milestones plan. Define resources to be scheduled on the project. 
  • Management of the aircraft project and of the bay assigned to him / her. Review project, bay KPIs on daily basis and ensure needed corrective actions have been implemented. 
  • Coordination between operations and support departments within the company about the project/s under his/her responsibility. 
  • Determine on daily basis resources needed for the next coming days. Give clear daily objectives, daily goals to the Shift Leaders. 
  • Responsible for compiling any necessary re-scheduling and/or recovering plans for the project/s under his/her responsibility. 
  • Act as customer focal point where relevant and needed. 
  • Developing and approving of the necessary and planning data for production. 
  • Prepare the respective Bill of Works (BOW) per project. 
  • Regularly work with Planning/Operations departments to ensure that the projects under your responsibility are resourced appropriately. 
  • Ensure clear communication to and with all project stakeholders on an on-going basis by holding daily “shipside” meetings. Lead level 2 meetings, ensure project visual board is updated on daily basis. Continually monitor and report program progress to the sales and management teams. 
  • Perform daily walk in the assigned bay to review by spot check general 5S standards, parts segregation, parts storage, panzer organisation. 
  • Generate a strong focus on customer relationships with regular updates/liaison either through meetings, reports, email correspondence and/or telephone communication. 
  • Supervise assigned data entry clerks. 
  • Approve, reject absence requests above 2 weeks. 
  • Execute the Project Core Team Meetings. 
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives. 
  • Keep projects on track per schedule, cost, quality and manage associated risk and relevant recovery remedies. 
  • Publish daily ground time reports to ensure transparent communication to external customer and internal customers (when on duty). 
  • Responsible for raising all relevant Purchase Request related to sub-contract services and communicate service delivery to ensure timely financial inter departmental actions. 
  • Participate in kick-off meetings ensuring communication to his/her responsible sub-ordinates and or inter departmental dependencies for clear understanding of expectations. 

In addition to above task:  

  • Mentoring where needed and relevant. 
  • Participate in improvement of breaking silo’s improving relationship building across the board. 
  • Execute any other task commensurate with the role. 

  

Position Key Requirements and Competencies  

  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience working in a part 145 base maintenance organisation. 
  • Good Communication skills. 
  • Fluency in English language. 
  • Extensive knowledge of aviation regulations (EASA Part 145, Part 147, Part 66, Part 21, Part M). 
  • Excellent Leadership skills. 
  • Excellent Communication skills. 
  • Excellent IT literacy. 
  • A can-do attitude.
